ADHD School Monitoring Program

Obtaining regular feedback from a child's teacher is essential to know how well ADHD treatment is working at school and when treatment changes are needed. The American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended this for over 20 years, but it's rarely done. Because of this, many children remain on treatments that aren't helping as much as they could be.

I'm a child psychologist and retired Duke research professor whose career focused on ADHD, including over 25 years writing Attention Research Update, a free newsletter to help parents stay informed about new ADHD research.

I built the ADHD School Monitoring Program to help parents get important information that only teachers can provide. Your child's teacher will regularly complete a brief online rating form and the program emails you a concise report showing how your child is doing in the classroom. Sharing these reports with your child's doctor/clinician can help guide treatment decisions — whether medication, behavioral treatment, or another approach.
